Wilkes moves to 4-11 overall and 1-4 in conference play. King's drops to 4-12 overall and remains winless at 0-5 in league games. It marks the first victory for Wilkes over King's since January 29, 2009 when the Lady Colonels posted a 65-61 victory in double overtime at the Marts Center. King's held a slim one point advantage at the break before a furious 11-0 Wilkes run gave the Lady Colonels a double digit lead early in the second frame. Stambone scored seven points during the spurt and Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) and Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) added inside scores as Wilkes led 34-24 with 14:55 left. King's responded using a 9-0 run midway through the stanza to take the lead back 45-44 with 5:54 remaining. A three-point play from Stambone and another score from the sophomore standout put Wilkes ahead 49-48 just two minutes later. After King's tied the game at 49 apiece, Brown streaked down the right wing in transition scoring a layup to put Wilkes ahead 51-49 with 1:44 on the clock. Kayla Brahm (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) added one of two free throws when she was fouled with :12 left and Wilkes held on over the final ten seconds of play to record its first Freedom Conference win of the season. Stambone finished 7-for-18 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Brown added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Edwards, Ellen Rich (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall) and Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) each contributed five point in the win. Kayla Feairheller was the lone Lady Monarch in double figures finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
