Colonels Basketball Teams Conclude Regular Season at King's on Saturday
 
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to their old foe King's College on Saturday for the final regular season game of the year.
 
The women's game will tip at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men at 3:00 p.m. Live stats, live video and live audio of both games will be available at the following links.

The men's game is a winner takes all showdown as the Colonels and Monarchs are both 7-6 in the Freedom Conference, vying for the fourth and final playoff spot.  Wilkes is 12-12 overall after defeating FDU-Florham 89-87 on Tuesday evening.  Senior Cameron Hinkel (Millerstown, PA/Greenwood)'s last shot in the Marts Center was a game-winning runner off the backboard with just 1.0 second remaining on the game clock.
 
Wilkes defeated King's in the Marts Center 59-54 earlier this season.
 
The Colonels are averaging 73.0 points on offense and allowing 72.2 points on the defensive side of the ball.  As a team the Colonels are shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from beyond the arc.  They also are shooting a respectable 73.3 percent from the foul line. 
 
Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) (14.3 ppg.) and Steve Stravinski (Pittston, PA/Pittston) (14.2 ppg.) are the leading scorers for the Colonels.  Stravinski continues to lead the Freedom Conference with 69 made three's with Wizar hot on his tail with 67.  Stravinski leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 per-game and leads the squad with 37 steals on defense.  Freshman Zachary Brunner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) is shooting 54.3 percent from the field averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 caroms per-game.  Tyler Jackson (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) has been on fire of late scoring double-digit points in 9 the last 12 games.  Jackson leads the team with 3.9 assists per-game to go along with his 10.7 points from the point guard position.
 
King's is 14-10 overall on the season and 7-6 in the Freedom after falling on the road 67-63 at Delaware Valley Tuesday evening. The Monarchs are averaging 64.8 points on offense and give up 64.8 points on defense.  King's is shooting 41.5 percent from the field but struggle from three-point range shooting just 28.8 percent on the year.
 
Dan Rutecki leads the Monarchs offensively with 14.6 points per-game and cleans up the glass pulling down 7.2 rebounds per-game.  Rutecki is shooting 51.8 percent from the field and is second on the team with 26 steals.  Chris Fazzini is the second leading scorer averaging 11.3 points per-game while shooting 40 percent from the field.  John Fazzini is the leading three-point shooter for the Monarchs having made 24 on the season.
 
The Lady Colonels are looking to conclude their season with a win over the Lady Monarchs.  They enter the game with a record of 10-13 and a 4-9 Freedom mark after falling 69-47 to FDU-Florham on Tuesday evening. 
 
King's defeated Wilkes by a score of 68-59 in their first meeting played at the Marts Center in mid January.
 
Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) averages a team best 17.0 points per-game.  Stambone remains 45 points shy of the school's all-time scoring mark currently with 1,626 points (third place all-time).  With 31 more points Stambone would move into sole possession of second place on the all-time scoring list at Wilkes.
Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) chips in with 9.9 points and a team best 8.0 rebounds per-game while Cara Basile (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) adds 8.6 points and 5.4 rebounds.  Chelsea Smelas (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) is averaging 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per-game, shooting 45.7 percent from the field. 
 
King's was eliminated from playoff contention losing on the road at Delaware Valley 63-56 on Tuesday.  The Lady Monarchs are 10-14 this season and 6-7 in the Freedom Conference. 
 
Kayla Feairheller leads the team in scoring with 12.6 points to go along with 5.1 rebounds.  Marissa Manning is the second leading scorer at 10.6 points while grabbing 6.7 caroms per-game.  Kasey Seitz has made a team best 40 three-pointers this season while averaging 9.3 points.
