Wilkes Women's Tennis Gets Revenge Against Scranton in 6-3 Win

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team got revenge from an early season loss to the University of Scranton posting a 6-3 victory over the Royals Friday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes improves to 15-1 overall on the year with one match remaining until the Freedom Conference Tournament.

The Lady Colonels avenged a 5-4 loss to Scranton in its first match of the fall campaign.

After Scranton took a 2-1 lead after doubles, Wilkes saw winners in five of six singles flights to preserve the win. Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland), Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake), Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott), Olivia Hewison (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) and Julia Baranov (Huntingdon Valley, PA/William Tennent) all recorded straight set wins in singles matches for the Lady Colonels.

Wilkes concludes Freedom play Sunday playing cross-town rival King's at Kirby Park Courts at 4:30 p.m.
