Wilkes Women's Tennis Captures Ninth Straight Freedom Crown with 5-0 Win over Misericordia

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team continued its dominance in the Freedom Conference capturing its ninth straight Freedom Conference title posting a 5-0 decision over Misericordia University Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes improves to 18-1 overall on the season and will await word on its NCAA National Tournament location announced Monday afternoon.

Wilkes jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles thanks to wins from pairs No. 1 Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) and Anastasia English (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) (8-3), No. 2 Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) and Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) (8-5) and No. 3 Olivia Hewison (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley) and Alnna Denauski (8-2).

Hoffmann quickly put away her opponent at No. 2 singles with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 victory earning tournament MVP in the process. Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) clinched the match for Wilkes with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1.
