Wilkes Cross Country Teams Compete at Cougar Classic

DALLAS, PA – The Wilkes University cross country teams saw school record times fall on both the men's and women's race at the Misericordia University Cougar Classic Saturday afternoon in a rain soaked event.

The Colonel men finished seventh of fifteen teams while the Lady Colonels finished ninth of fifteen teams at the event.

Jordan Lindley (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake Lehman) led the way for the Wilkes men finishing 28^th overall with a time of 28:59, the thirteenth fastest time in school history in the 8k. Harrison Ferro (Berwick, PA/Berwick) followed in 31^st place crossing at 29:16 while Martin Tolbert (York, PA/William Penn) came in 36^th overall at 29:33. Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) (40^th, 29:56), Greg Fry (Salisbury Twp., PA/Salisbury) (61^st, 31:36/personal best), Kendrick Schell (Northampton, PA/Northampton) (66^th, 32:12) and Nicholas Evanglista (67^th, 32:32) rounded out the Wilkes scorers.

For the women. Morgan Jones (Huntley, MT/Huntley Project) finished 11^th overall with a time of 24:53, the seventh fastest time in school history in the 6k. Tracey Hilker (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) came in 57^th at 28:20 while Regan Murphy (Plainfield, PA/Pen Argyl) finished in 64^th at 28:54. Kaitlyn Sitch (Weatherly, PA/MMI Prep) posted a personal best time of 30:32 for 76^th overall in the race.

Both squads return to the course Saturday, September 26^th competing at the Dickinson Short/Long Invitational at 10:30 a.m. in Carlisle, Pa.
