Wilkes Cross Country Teams Set Record Times at LVC Invitational

LEBANON, PA – Two school records fell, one on the men's side and one on the women's, as the Wilkes University cross country teams competed at the Lebanon Valley Invitational Saturday afternoon at Canal Park.

The Colonel men finished fifth of eight teams while the Lady Colonels claimed sixth place of eight teams in the event.

For the Wilkes men, Jordan Lindley (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake Lehman) set the school's third fastest time in the 8k running a 28:24 for 23^rd place. Harrison Ferro (Berwick, PA/Berwick) followed at 28:53 for the eleventh fastest time in program history while Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) came in at 30:24. Martin Tolbert (York, PA/William Penn) finished at 30:48, Nick Evangelista (Hellertown, PA/Saucony Valley) at 31:29 and Greg Fry (Salisbury Twp., PA/Salisbury) at 32:38. Kendrick Schell (Northampton, PA/Northampton) and Mike McCleaf (Fairfield, PA/Delone Catholic) rounded out the Colonel scorers crossing the line together at 32:47.

Morgan Jones (Huntley, MT/Huntley Project) led the Wilkes women with a time of 19:47 for ninth place and the second fastest time in the 5k in school history. Tracey Hilker (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) followed in 39^th place with a time of 22:37 (personal best) while Alexis Nicholson (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) came in at 23:16 and Carmen Hillman (Urbana, OH/Graham School) at 24:13. Kaitlyn Sitch (Weatherly, PA/MMI Prep) (24:31) and Michelle Brenneman (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) (24:55) recorded personal bests at the event for Wilkes.

Both teams return to the course next Saturday competing at the Cougar Classic on the campus of Misericordia University at 10:00 a.m.
