Wilkes Men's Tennis Concludes Day One and Two of MAC Individual Championships
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team saw six of seven singles flights advances and all four double pairs move onto semifinal play after day one and two of the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championships at the Ralston Athletic Complex, Kirby Park and the Kingston Indoor Tennis Club.

At No. 1 singles,
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus), the top seed, advanced to the semifinal round with a 6-2, 6-1 win over FDU-Florham's Max Moscowitz in the quarterfinals. Murphy will face Messiah's Tim Dunn in the semifinal tomorrow.
At No. 2 singles,
Artyom Nabokin (Danvers, MA/Danvers) moved into the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wesley Wei of Arcadia in the quarterfinals. Nabokin, the top seed in the bracket, earned a bye in the first round and will play Evan Cuff of Albright in the semifinals tomorrow.
At No. 4 singles, top-seeded
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) went 6-0, 6-0 over Reid Hoff of Alvernia to move into the semifinals. White will face Blake Martin of Lebanon Valley in the semis tomorrow.
At No. 5 singles,
Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) used a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zachary High of Lycoming in the quarterfinals to move into semifinal play. He will play Alex Mantsevich of Messiah tomorrow in the semis.
At No. 6 singles,
Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman), seeded first, beat Antonio Gaetani of Alvernia 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals to earn a match in the semifinals against Tyler Tuck of King's.
At No. 7 singles, Chris Madertiz posted three straight win to enter the finals tomorrow. He began with an 8-1 win in the first round over Cameron Tuck of King's then followed with two straight 6-0, 6-0 victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals to setup a championship match with Caleb Hays of Messiah.
At No. 1 doubles, after a bye in the first round, the duo of Murphy and White posted an 8-1 victory over Hood's Sexton/Brady to move into the semifinals. They will face Albright's pair of Muolo/Richardson in the semifinals.
At No. 2 doubles, top seed Lefkandinos and
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) earned an 8-1 win in the quarterfinals over an Albright duo to move into the semifinals tomorrow. The pair will face Messiah's Esch and Warren in the semis.
At No 3 doubles, Haas and Nabokin scored an 8-1 in over LVC's Kleckner/Eisenhower to claim a date with Messiah's Ross and Mantesevich in the semifinals tomorrow.
At No. 4 doubles,
Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) and
Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) have yet to compete afrer receiveing a forfeit win in the quarterfinals. The duo will face O'Keefe/Davidson of FDU-Florham tomorrow in the semifinals.
The final day of the championship will begin Sunday at 9:00 a.m. with semifinal doubles matches, followed by semifinal singles matches. The championship will then move on to singles championship matches, followed by doubles championship matches.
