Wilkes Men's Tennis Claims 10 MAC Men's Tennis Individual Titles
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team concluded the final day of the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Individual Championships with the Colonels winning 10 of the 11 individual titles.

At No. 1 singles,
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) claimed his second straight title in the flight with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Matt Muolo of Albright. Murphy went 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals over Timm Dunn to reach the finals.
At No. 2 singles,
Artyom Nabokin (Las Vegas, NV/Danvers) captured his second individual singles crown with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Connor Graybeal of Messiah. Nabokin used a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the semifinals over Evan Cuff of Albright to reach the finals.
At No. 4 singles,
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) was a first-time individual champion when he defeated Austin Warren of Messiah 6-2, 6-2. White beat Blake Martin of Lebanon Valley 7-5, 6-1 in the semifinals a match prior.
At No. 5 singles,
Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) completed the clean sweep of titles in a career winning his fourth straight crown with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Jordan Heavel of Lebanon Valley in the finals. Lefkandinos used a 6-1, 6-3 win against Alex Mantsevich of Messiah in the semifinals to reach the title match.
At No. 6 singles,
Troy Haas (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) won his first individual title with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Blake Ross of Messiah in the finals. Haas reach the championship match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Tyler Tuck of King's.
Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) rounded out the singles champions for Wilkes using a 6-3, 6-1 win over Caleb Hays of Messiah in the finals to claim the title.
Wilkes captured all four doubles flights, its second straight yeat completing the sweep in doubles competition at the event.
Murphy and White took the No. 1 doubles title with an 8-4 victory over a duo from Stevenson in the finals. Lefkandinos and
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) claimed the No. 2 doubles championship using an 8-5 win in the finals over a King's pair. Haas and Nabokin went 8-3 in the finals to capture the No. 3 title over Arcadia while
Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) and
Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) defended its crown at No. 4 doubles with an 8-1 win in the finals over a Messiah pair.
The Colonels now have 35 singles titles and 22 doubles titles, both the most of any school in the MAC.
The event concludes the fall season for the Colonels. Wilkes is scheduled to open its spring season at the Drew Invitational in Madison, N.J. on February 18th, 2017.
