EDWARDSVILLE -- The Wilkes University women's tennis team showed its dominance of the conference winning six of seven singles titles and all four doubles crowns at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships on Sunday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park Courts.
 
Wilkes has now won 49 all-time singles championships and 29 all-time doubles championships to lead all conference schools at the conference event.

At No. 1 singles, Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) notched her third straight crown using a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Emily Fernandez of King's in the finals. Vasarkovy reached the title match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Mara Trifoi of Albright.
 
At No. 2 singles, Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) earned her second consecutive title after posting a 6-2, 6-2 win in the finals against Hannah Summerson of Lycoming. Varela-Seri moved into the finals after scoring a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Amber Achenbach of DeSales.
 
Dana Saliyev (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South) recorded her second straight title at No. 3 singles using a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kaitlin Hallabuk of Lycoming to reach the finals. There she won 6-0, 6-2 over Misericordia's Linsey Parks to claim the crown.
 
At No. 4 singles, Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern) took home her second career championship at the event earning the title with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Allyson Wolf of FDU-Florham in the finals. She moved into the championship match after posting a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Messiah's Emily Wichert.
 
Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) was one of two rookies to earn their first titles at the event claiming the crown at No. 6 singles. Markle went 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinals before winning the crown with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over FDU-Florham's Mia Capozzoli.
 
Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) rounded out the Lady Colonel singles winners capturing her first title at No. 7 singles recording a 6-0, 6-3 win in the finals over DeSales' Gabby Serratore. She reached the finals after securing a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rebecca Connelly of Stevenson.
 
Brittany Stanton (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) settled for second place at No. 5 singles falling to Amanda Adams of Messiah 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 in the finals.
 
Wilkes swept all four doubles flights securing championships in each duo. At No. 1 Vasarkovy and Saliyev scored an 8-1 victory in the finals for their first title as a pair at the event.
 
At No. 2 doubles, Varela-Seri and Zielinski earned the pairs first crown with an 8-3 victory over a FDU-Florham duo. At No. 3 doubles, Stanton and Markle recorded an 8-3 win in the finals to claim the title. Nicole Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) and Courtney McCowan (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) rounded out the doubles sweep for Wilkes earning the championship at No. 4 with an 8-3 victory.
 
The event concludes the fall season for Wilkes with the squad returning to action in early March traveling to Hilton Head Island, SC for its annual spring break trip.
