HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University women's tennis team kept its perfect season in tact with an 8-1 victory over Ohio Northern in its opening match of the 2017 spring break trip in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
 
Wilkes improved to 7-0 in dual matches while Ohio Northern dropped to 8-2 overall on the season following the defeat.
 
Wilkes opened play with a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles competition. The teams of Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North)/Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) at No. 1, Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg)/Dana Saliyev (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South) at No. 2 and Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland)/Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) at No. 3 all were winners in pairs play.
 
Croker, Varela-Seri, Saliyev and Salmon were also straight set winners in singles play. Hoffmann took her No. 5 match 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 to round out the Lady Colonel winners in the dual victory.
 
The Lady Colonels continue their spring break schedule with a pair of matches on Tuesday against North Carolina Wesleyan at 8:00 a.m. and Albion College at 3:30 p.m.
