EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team scored a pair of wins Saturday including its first MAC Freedom match of the season at the Ralston Athletic Complex. The Lady Colonels opened with a 9-0 victory over Delaware Valley University in their conference debut before another 9-0 sweep of Penn State Abington in the second match of the day.
 
Wilkes pushes its win streak to 14 straight matches standing a perfect 14-0 on the season.
 
Wilkes opened the match against the Aggies winning all three doubles flights before straight set singles wins from Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) at No. 1, Kendra Croker (Old Forge, PA/Scranton Prep) at No. 2, Taylor Hoffmann (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) at No. 3, Madison Salmon (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) at No. 4, Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern) at No. 5 and Nicole Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) at No. 6 sealed the conference victory.
 
In the match against PSU Abington, Wilkes again opened with three doubles wins before taking all six singles flights in straight sets. Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) won at No. 1, Dana Saliyev (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South) at No. 2, Erin Volutza (Sinking Spring, PA/Lancaster Catholic) at No. 3, Grace Graham (Rockville Centre, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) at No. 4, Zielinski at No. 5 and Brittany Stanton (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) at No. 6.
 
Wilkes returns to the courts Wednesday hosting Eastern University at 2:30 p.m. in a MAC Freedom match at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
