Wilkes Women's Tennis Concludes Season with 5-0 Loss to Williams in NCAA Second Round
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Wilkes University women's tennis team saw its record-setting season come to a close after falling 5-0 against host Williams College on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Championship Tournament.
Wilkes' season ends at 24-1, the most wins in a single season in program history. Williams advances to the quarterfinal round improving to 16-4 overall on the year.
Williams began the match with three wins in doubles play taking No. 3 pairs first at 8-1 before an 8-1 win at No. 1 and 8-0 victory at No. 2.
Linda Shin then opened singles play for Williams with a 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 before Hannah Atkinson bested
Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 to clinch the second round win.
