EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of Penn College Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
Wilkes moves to 2-0 overall after the win during the fall dual match season.
 
Wilkes went 3-0 in doubles play allowing just one point during the three pairs matches.
 
Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) took her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 while Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Brittany Stanton (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) earned Wilkes' second straight set win at No. 3 singles and Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4.
 
Courtney McCowan (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) and Nicole Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) rounded out the Lady Colonel singles winners at No. 5 and 6 respectfully, both in straight set fashion.
 
Wilkes is back on the court on October 3 traveling to the University of Scranton at 4:00 p.m.
