Wilkes Men's Tennis Falls in 6-3 Decision Against Methodist
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the 2018 season falling 6-3 to Methodist University on Tuesday afternoon at Chaplin Park on the second day of the Colonels spring break trip.
Wilkes dropped to 5-1 overall after the defeat.
The duo of
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) and
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) took No. 1 doubles 8-1 as Wilkes trailed 2-1 after doubles play.
Murphy added another win in singles play defeating RJ Clement 6-2, 7-5 at the top spot. White was another two-time winner for Wilkes posting a 1-6, 6-0, 10-8 victory at No. 3 singles to close out the Colonel scoring in the match.
Wilkes is off tomorrow before returning to the court Thursday with matches against Bridgewater (Va.), William Woods and Catholic in a triple-header.
