EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team swept a pair of MAC Freedom matches on Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex beating DeSales University 9-0 before posting an 8-1 victory over Delaware Valley University.
 
Wilkes improved its overall mark to 8-3 and stands 2-0 in MAC Freedom play.
 
The Lady Colonels took all three doubles flights and all six singles matches against the Bulldogs in its first match of the day. Wilkes then posted wins in two of three doubles flights against DVU before sweeping all six singles matches. Erin Volutza (Sinking Spring, PA/Lancaster Catholic), Brittany Stanton (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood), Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford), Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) and Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern) were all two-time singles winners for Wilkes.
 
Wilkes returns to the courts Wednesday playing a match against cross-town rival and MAC Freedom foe King's College at 4:00 p.m. at Kirby Park.
