EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team posted a 9-0 MAC Freedom sweep of cross-town rival King's College Wednesday afternoon at the Kirby Park courts.
 
With the win Wilkes remained unbeaten in MAC Freedom play standing 3-0 and 9-3 overall. King's dropped to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in conference matches.
 
After taking a 3-0 lead through doubles play, Wilkes went on to win all six singles flights in straight set fashion. Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), Francesca Varela-Seri (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg), Erin Volutza (Sinking Spring, PA/Lancaster Catholic), Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern), Dagney Markle (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) and Sarah Malone (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) all recorded singles wins for Wilkes.
 
Wilkes returns to the courts Saturday with a MAC Freedom road match at Eastern University starting at 1:30 p.m.
