EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory over visiting Ursinus College in non-conference action Monday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
Wilkes improved to 16-5 overall while Ursinus dropped to 10-8 on the season.
 
Ursinus jumped out to a 2-1 lead after double splay taking No. 1 and No. 2 pairs by the scores of 8-4 and 8-3. Larry Scartz (Woodbridge, VA/Home School) and Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) recorded a win at No. 3 doubles for Wilkes.
 
The Colonels posted wins in five of six singles flights to make the comeback complete and earn the win. Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) began the singles flights with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 before Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) went 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 before Artyom Nabokin (Las Vegas, NV/Danvers) clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2. Madertiz added his second win of the day capturing No. 5 singles 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
 
Wilkes returns to MAC Freedom play Tuesday with a road match at King's College starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Kirby Park courts.
