Dallas, PA – The Wilkes University men's cross country team began the 2018 season Friday evening by placing fifth of seven teams at the Misericordia Invitational.

Results

Eighty runners took part in the 5k race to start the season before the men run the normal 8k championship distance at future events. Four freshman Colonels accounted for all but one of the five scoring runners for Wilkes as the team combined for 142 points.

Lebanon Valley was the team champion with 27 points.

Freshman Phillip Castrine (Germansville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) was the top Colonel finisher in 21^st place with a time of 18:11.9. Freshman Seth Boyce (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) (29^th, 18:35.0), freshman John Zick (Middletown, NY/John S. Burke) (38^th, 19:03.5), sophomore Noah Molina (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) (40^th, 19:04.0) and freshman Dylan Corriere (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) (41^st, 19:17.6) rounded out the scorers for Wilkes.

Junior Kevin Singhel (Athens, PA/Athens Area) (45^th, 19:38.4), sophomore Kevin Long (Goshen, NY/Goshen) (46^th, 19:44.5), junior Jason Montemuro (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) (54^th, 20:23.3), freshman Brandon Whitman (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) (57^th, 20:39.1), junior Alan Sebastianelli (Archbald, PA/Valley View) (58^th, 20:41.4), sophomore Colin Ahrensfield (Ashland, PA/North Schuylkill) (66^th, 21:40.0), freshman Patrick Connors (Hanover Twp., PA/Hanover) (67^th, 21:43.2) and freshman Kaleb Hanson Richart (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Meyers) (68^th, 21:58.8) rounded out the finishers.

The Colonels return to the course to compete at the Stevenson Invitational on Saturday, September 8 in Stevenson, Md.
