No. 5 Wilkes Women's Basketball Set for MAC Freedom Quarterfinal at No. 4 Misericordia
WILKES-BARRE – The fifth-seeded Wilkes University women's basketball team is set to face fourth-seeded Misericordia University in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Quarterfinal contest Wednesday in Dallas, Pa. at 7:00 p.m.
Wilkes earned its highest finish in the conference standings since the 1996-97 season when the Colonels were the fourth seed. Wilkes will be making only its fifth trip to the conference postseason tournament in the 62-year history of the program and the first in 25 years.

Wilkes earned the fifth seed in the MAC Freedom Women's Basketball Championship with a 7-9 conference record under the mentorship of fourth-year head coach
Tara Macciocco. The Colonels were 8-14 overall and are 4-7 in road games this season. Misericordia won both regular season matchups over Wilkes, first 65-52 in Dallas, Pa. on December 8th and then 56-29 at the Marts Center on February 2nd.
Katelyn Kinczel (Highland Heights, OH/Mayfield) leads Wilkes and is tied for 11th in the MAC Freedom with 10.6 points-per-game (ppg). She is fourth in the league with 2.4 made three pointers per-game and is fifth in the conference with a .341 three-point shooting percentage.
Brianna Horton (Verona, NJ/Verona) is second on the team with 8.0 ppg and leads the Colonels with 5.8 rebounds-per-game (rpg) which ranks 14th in the conference. She is fifth among MAC Freedom players with 34.6 minutes-per-game and has played all 40 minutes six times this season.
Julia Marino (Turnersville, NJ/Washington Township) is second in the conference with 4.0 assists-per-game (apg) totaling 80 for the season. She is also fourth on the team in scoring with 6.8 ppg.
Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) is second on the Colonels with 4.5 rpg and is third in the MAC Freedom with 1.6 blocks-per-game (bpg) as she has totaled 34 this season. She is third on the team in scoring at 6.9 ppg.
Wilkes is seventh of nine teams in the MAC Freedom with a 52.7 scoring average and are seventh defensively allowing 61.9 ppg.
Misericordia earned the fourth seed with a 10-6 MAC Freedom record. The Cougars are 15-10 overall and 6-5 at home.
Alyssa Bondi leads the Cougars offense with 15.0 ppg as she is tied for fifth in the conference. Bondi is tied for the MAC Freedom lead with 2.8 made threes per-game and is fourth with a .364 three-point shooting percentage. Gianna Delfino is fifth in the league with 7.4 rpg, fourth with 1.5 bpg, and tied for seventh with 1.9 steals-per-game. Melina Santacroce is tied for ninth in the conference at 7.0 rpg and is second on the team in scoring with 7.2 ppg. Morgan Haefele is seventh with 3.4 apg.
