Wilkes Basketball Prepare for Landmark Clash with Lycoming College
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University men's and women's basketball teams get set for a mid-week clash with fellow Landmark Conference newcomers Lycoming College on Wednesday night. The women's team host the Warriors at the Marts Center, while the men travel to Williamsport for their contest. Both games will tip off at 7:00 p.m.

Women's Preview
The Wilkes women's basketball team comes into this matchup off of a 65-42 loss at Neumann on Monday night, and are still searching for their first Landmark Conference victory after two losses to Scranton and Catholic. They are 4-3 overall this season and 0-2 against Landmark opposition.
Yamirelis Matos (Springfield, MA/Chicopee) leads the Colonels in scoring averaging 12.3 ppg, the seventh best in the conference. She is followed by
Nadia Evanosky (Dallas, PA/Dallas) who is averaging 11.2 ppg. Senior
Brenna Babcock (Sweet Valley, PA/Northwest Area) averages 8.4 ppg.
Madison Robel (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) sits seventh in the conference averaging a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game, followed by Matos with 6.3 rpg, and
Erin Shober (Reading, PA/Wilson) with 5.1 rpg. Marino leads the team averaging 3.3 assists per game and has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the Landmark at 2.8.
Babcock leads the team in field goal percentage, hitting over half of her shots from the floor at a .568 average. Matos leads the team from three with a .389 three point average. She leads the team with seven three pointers made, followed by Evanosky and
Julianna Askins (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) with six.
On defense, Shober leads the conference in blocked shots with 20, an average of 2.9 per game that also leads the conference. Matos is second in the conference in steals with 23 and average per game at 3.3.
Wilkes has the seventh best scoring offense in the conference averaging 58.6 ppg, and the seventh best scoring defense averaging 62.1 ppg. The Colonel defense is third in opponent field goal percentage at .342 and leads in opponent three point field goal percentage at .242. They are also second in defensive rebounds averaging 28.9 per game, and blocked shots at an average of 5 per game.
Lycoming enter the game with a 5-1 record and a 1-1 record in Landmark play, coming off of their first loss of the season against Elizabethtown College 51-84.
Emily Lockard has been the dominant force for the Lycoming offense, leading the team in scoring (14.8 ppg, fifth in Landmark), rebounds per game (7.5, fourth in Landmark), and field goal percentage (.513, second in Landmark).
Meghan Dufner and Ashley Yoh are also contributing double-digit scoring averages at 12.0 and 11.3 ppg respectively to lead the Warriors.
Yoh also averages 6.2 rebounds per game and Alicia Goldenziel adds 5.8 boards a game. Dufner is second in the conference in assists per game averaging 3.3 apg.
From beyond the arc, Kami Abdo leads the team with a .333 average from beyond the arc. Mya Wetzel has hit the most triples for the team with 15, the fourth most in the conference.

Men's Preview
The Colonels are coming off of their first loss of the year and first in Landmark play, a 47-89 loss at Catholic. The team now sits at 5-1 on the year and 1-1 against conference opponents.
Lucas Lesko (Northampton, PA/Northampton) leads the team averaging 15.3 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the Landmark Conference. Right behind him in fifth is
Trent Fisher (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), averaging 14.7 ppg, and
Cayden Merrifield (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) rounding out the top ten at 13.3 ppg.
Joey Zvorsky (New Cumberland, PA/Cedar Cliff) and
Jack Argento (Hershey, PA/Hershey) round out the team's top scorers averaging 8.8 ppg and 8 ppg respectively.
Fisher leads the team in rebounds averaging 8.8 rpg, the second most in the conference, followed closely by Lesko with 7.0 rpg. Fisher also leads the team with 3.0 assists per game to put him ninth in the conference.
Fisher continues to dominate the stat sheet with his .610 field goal percentage putting him third in the conference. Lesko leads the Colonels from beyond the arc with a .382 three point percentage on 13 made triples.
Lesko also leads the Colonel defense with 1.5 blocks per game, while Zvorsky averages 1.8 steals per game. As a whole, the team ranks third in the Landmark in scoring defense, allowing 63.8 ppg, and opponent field goal percentage at .374. Wilkes sits second in the conference in opponent three point percentage at .285.
Wilkes is fifth in scoring offense, averaging 70.2 ppg, and fifth in team field goal percentage at .431. They are eighth in three point field goal percentage, but fifth in three pointers made averaging 7.2 per game. The team also sits third in combined team rebounds with a 40.8 per game average.
Lycoming are coming off of their first win in Landmark play over Elizabethtown, 86-81. The Warriors sit at 4-3 on the year and match Wilkes at 1-1 in-conference.
Steven Hamilton and Isaiah Valentine lead the Warriors in scoring averaging 12.6 ppg and 12.1 ppg respectively, the only two scorers averaging double-digits. Hayden Pardoe and Brendon Blackson round out the top scorers averaging 9.3 ppg and 8.6 ppg respectively.
J.J. Beagle leads the team in rebounds averaging 7.1 rpg, followed closely by Valentine with 7.0 rpg. Hamilton is fifth in the conference in assists averaging 3.3 apg.
