Wilkes Women's Tennis Selected Sixth in Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll
TOWSON, Md. – The Wilkes University women's tennis have been selected sixth in the annual Landmark Conference preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
The Colonels collected 32 points in the poll after a 2023-24 campaign that saw the team reach the postseason with a 4-5 record in Landmark play. The Colonels will look to once again earn a playoff berth under head coach Scott Veith in his first season with the program.
Moravian University was narrowly selected as the favorite, collecting 76 points and five first-place votes. Reigning champion Drew University was only one point behind with 75 points, grabbing the other five first-place votes.
The remainder of the top five is very highly contested, with the University of Scranton (60 points), Goucher College (59 points), and Catholic University (52 points) placing third through fifth separated only by eight points.
Wilkes was selected sixth, followed by a tie between Susquehanna University and Juniata College for seventh each on 30 points. Elizabethtown College and Lycoming College closed out the poll tied for ninth, earning 18 points each.
The Colonels finished the fall season 3-0, picking up a conference win over Elizabethtown. Spring conference action begins on Saturday, March 22 as they face Juniata at 12:00 p.m. The Colonels kick off the season in Hilton Head, S.C. as they face Johnson and Wales University on Sunday, March 2.
