Amerise Named Landmark Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md. – Wilkes University women's tennis senior
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) was named Landmark Athlete of the Week for her play on the team's spring break trip, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
This is the team's first weekly award this season and the first of the season for Amerise.
The senior went undefeated in Hilton Head, S.C. with three dominant singles wins at No. 1 against Johnson & Wales, Buena Vista, and Mary Baldwin.
Amerise swept Johnson & Wales' Hanna Christiansen 6-0, 6-0 on Sunday and followed it up with a win over Buena Vista's Taylor Fritz the next day 6-0, 6-1. She finished her spring break besting Gretchen Lutz of Mary Baldwin 8-1.
Amerise also went undefeated in doubles play, picking up three wins with fellow senior
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) at No. 1 6-3, 7-5, and 8-2.
Amerise and the Colonels take to the court again on Thursday, March 20 as they host East Stroudsburg University at the Ralston Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m.
