Wilkes Baseball Takes Home Two Major Awards, Four Players Selected to All-Landmark Team
TOWSON, Md. – The Wilkes University baseball team collected two major awards and saw four players selected to the 2025 All-Landmark Conference Baseball team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
First year pitcher
AJ Levandoski (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) was named Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year, while head coach
Mike Guy and the Wilkes coaching staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Luke Spencer (Lehman, PA/Lake Lehman), like Levandoski, were named to the first team, while
Jack Mathis (Exeter PA/Wyoming Area) and
Nathan Loch (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) were named as honorable mentions.
Levandoski led the Landmark Conference with eight wins and finished second with 60 strikeouts. He led the conference in strikeouts looking, freezing batters 25 times, with an ERA of 3.16 good for the third-best mark in the conference. Opposing hitters had a batting average of .224 against the Scranton native, the third-best mark in the Landmark as well.
Spencer makes his second appearance on the All-Landmark Team at third base, improving upon his second team recognition as a junior with his first team selection this year. The Senior led Wilkes with a .353 batting average, seven home runs and 45 RBIs. He sat third in the conference with an OPS of 1.101 and fifth in slugging and on-base percentage at .588 and .513 respectively. His 16 stolen bases put him seventh in the conference, one of four Colonels in the top ten in the metric in the Landmark.
Mathis made an instant impact at second base in his first year as a Colonel, earning All-Landmark Honorable Mention honors at the position. Mathis hit .297 with 47 hits and 31 RBIs, tying for the team-high in doubles with nine. His four triples were good for the third-most in the Landmark, and he tied for fourth in the conference with 18 stolen bases. In the field, Mathis was second in the conference in fielding double plays with 22, and tenth in the conference with 93 assists.
Loch completes the Colonels' infield trio as an honorable mention at shortstop, the second All-Conference nod of his career after being named to the first team last season at second base. Loch hit .325 on the season with a team-high 50 hits, leading the conference with six triples and 26 stolen bases. Loch also scored 49 runs, the fifth-most in the conference. In the field, Loch sat just behind Mathis with 91 assists and 19 fielded double plays.
Guy and the Colonels staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors after leading the Colonels to a 28-win season, one win off tying the school record and the most wins in a season since 2009. Wilkes also made their first appearance in the Landmark Conference playoffs and first as the top-seed with a 19-5 conference record.
