Wilkes Field Hockey Selected Tenth in Landmark Preseason Coaches' Poll
TOWSON, MD - The Wilkes University field hockey team was voted tenth in the Landmark Conference preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the conference this morning.
Last season the Colonels finished with a record of 3-15 overall and 1-8 in Landmark Conference play. Ashley Irwin enters her third season as head coach of the program in 2025.
Susquehanna, the two-time defending conference champions, was selected to finish first with 80 points, including eight first-place votes. Scranton was projected to finish second with 70 points with one first-place vote, with Catholic just behind them in third with 68 points with one first-place vote as well.
Moravian was selected fourth with 52 points, and Drew rounded out the top five with 45 points. Juniata finished in sixth with 37 points, Elizabethtown took seventh with 34 points, Lycoming finished in eighth with 30 points, Goucher in ninth with 21 points, and lastly Wilkes in tenth with 13 points.
The Colonels begin their season on Saturday Aug. 30 on the road for a non-conference matchup at 12 p.m. against Oswego State. Their first home game at Schmidt Stadium is Wednesday Sept. 3 against Alfred State at 4:30 p.m. and their first conference game is on Saturday Sept. 27 against Elizabethtown.
