Wilkes Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at the Cougar Classic
DALLAS - The Wilkes University men's cross country team competed in the Cougar Classic, hosted by Misericordia, and finished in fourth place out of six teams on Saturday morning.
The Colonels finished with a team score of 93, finishing behind Misericordia, King's, and the Penn Running Club. Misericordia finished first with a 43 team score, King's took second with a 57 team score, and Penn Running Club ended in third with a 69 team score.
Individually, Jack Thompson (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) finished the 8K race as the Colonels best runner with a 28:05.00 time, good enough to take second place, and Caleb Edwards (Grahamsville, NY/Tri-Valley Central) finished right behind him in third with a time of 28:16.40.
Juniors Daniel Elkin (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) and Brett Martinez (Hanover Township, PA/Hanover Area) also made their season debut for Wilkes. Elkin finished 26th overall with a 37:13.70 time, and Martinez finished 29th overall with a 39:49.50 time. Thomas Majkowski (White Haven, PA/Wyoming Seminary) took 33rd place with a time of 51:48.50 to round out the Wilkes finishers at the event.
The Colonels are back in action on Sept. 27Â as they travel to Lock Haven for the Lock Haven University Open. The event begins at 10 p.m.
