WILKES-BARRE - Wilkes University athletic director Scott Musa has announced the 2025 athletic department assistants for the fall and winter sports.
New Hires
Hannah Boyd '25 - Sports Information Assistant
Boyd joins the Wilkes sports information staff for the 2024-25 season after graduating from Wilkes in May of 2025 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. She was a member of the softball team for four years, and was named an All-MAC Freedom Honorable Mention in 2023 and an All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention in 2025.
Matthew Vargo - Sports Information Assistant
Vargo joins the Wilkes sports information staff for the 2024-25 season after graduating from Susquehanna University with a bachelor's degree in sports media in December of 2024. He worked as a student manager of athletic communications for the River Hawks for three years, and most recently worked as a radio broadcast producer for the Harrisburg Senators during the 2025 season.
Eve Vickery - Field Hockey Assistant Coach
Vickery joins the Wilkes field hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025 season. Vickery earned her bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of Delaware in 2022 and earned master's degree in sports management from Stevenson University in 2023. Vickery played as a goalkeeper for both the Blue Hens and Mustangs, making the NCAA Tournament twice with Delaware.
Megan Graham '21 - Field Hockey Assistant Coach
Graham joins the Wilkes field hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025 season. She graduated from Wilkes in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in history and completed her Juris Doctor in May 2025 from Roger Williams University School of Law. Prior to attending Wilkes, she played field hockey under Coach Irwin at Meyers High School.
Jeremy Bours Jr. - Football Academic Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach
Bours Jr. joins the Wilkes football coaching staff as an academic coordinator and defensive backs coach for the 2025 season. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in actuarial science and economics. Bours was a five-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen, playing both offense and special teams. He was named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Honor Roll three times, CSC Academic All-District team twice, and the Academic All-MAC Team once in his career.
Vincenzo Malvestuto - Football Assistant Coach - Running Backs Coach
Malvestuto joins the Wilkes football coaching staff as the running backs coach for the 2025 season. He graduated from the University of Delaware, where he worked on the Blue Hens staff in 2023 and 2024 as a volunteer assistant and operations intern where he assisted the team's running backs coach.
Isaiah Reigel - Football Assistant Coach - Defensive Line Coach
Reiel joins the Wilkes football coaching staff as the defensive line coach for the 2025 season. He graduated from East Stroudsburg in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in business management, and was the defensive line coach for the Warriors from 2023-2025.
Xavier Guerreiro '25 - Men's Soccer Assistant Coach
Guerreiro joins the Wilkes men's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025 season. He graduated from Wilkes in May of 2025 with a bachelor's degree in computer science, and was a member of the men's soccer team for four seasons. In 72 games with the Colonels, he totalled 17 goals and five assists and was named an All-MAC Honorable Mention in 2022.
Rebecca Brown - Women's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach
Brown joins the Wilkes women's ice hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. She graduated from Utica College with a master's degree in healthcare administration in May of 2022 and a bachelor's degree in nursing in May of 2020. Brown played hockey for five years at both Norwich State and Utica, making a Frozen Four appearance with the Cadets in 2017. After her collegiate career, she played professionally from 2023-2025 in Sweden, Hungary, and Germany.
Stephen Esau - Men's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach
Esau joins the Wilkes men's ice hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. He brings extensive experience as a both a player and coach spanning over 30 years. Most recently, Esau spent the last two seasons in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) as the head coach of the Watertown Wolves in 2023 and the Dashers Hockey Club in 2025. As a player, he was a standout forward for North Allegheny Senior High School and the Pittsburgh Stars Junior A Hockey Club, which eventually led to him playing professionally for the Mobile Mystics of the ECHL in 1992, as well as the Las Vegas Aces of the PSHL from 1996-1997. After finishing his pro career, Esau began his coaching career where he has worked all over the country, from the high school level all the way up to professional hockey. He has led teams in the NA3HL, USPHL, WSHL, and GMHL.
Haley Bestrycki - Women's Basketball Assistant Coach
Bestrycki joins the Wilkes women's volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. She joins the Colonels after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Keystone College.
Stephen Turner '16 - Men's Wrestling Assistant Coach
Turner returns to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. Turner rejoins the Colonel family after a stint with King's College as an assistant coach from 2023-2025, where he directed four National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans and three top eight finishers at the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Championship. Turner spent four years with the men's wrestling team as a student-athlete at Wilkes, amassing a 54-43 record at the 149, 157 and 165 weight classes. He graduated in 2016 with a degree in earth & environmental science.
Returning Staff
Mike Coe - Football Assistant Coach - Special Teams Coach
Coe returns to the Wilkes football coaching staff for the 2025 season as the special teams coach. Coe graduated from Lycoming College in 2023 with a degree in business administration, and was a punter for the Warriors from 2019 to 2022.
Darian Bryant - Football Assistant Coach - Offensive Line Coach
Bryant returns to the Wilkes football coaching staff as the offensive line coach in 2025. Prior to Wilkes, he spent one season at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, a private school in Philadelphia, as an offensive line coach.
Zach Shay '24 - Assistant Volleyball Coach
Shay returns to the Wilkes volleyball coaching staff for his second season as an assistant coach. Shay graduated from Wilkes in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, and was a five-year member of the men's volleyball team. He holds program records in single season and career assists (2,442), as well as assists per set (7.68).
