Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Set for Semifinal at Misericordia Wednesday
WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team finished the 2016 regular season with a 12-4 overall record earing the third seed in Wednesday's MAC Freedom semifinal. The Lady Colonels will travel to second seeded Misericordia University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students while children under age six will be admitted free.

The two teams met just two weeks ago at Schmidt Stadium where the visiting Cougars escaped with a 10-8 win.
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) and
Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) combined for seven of Wilkes' eight goals, but the Cougars built a three-point lead late and held on to secure the league win.
Wilkes is led by its senior scoring machine
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy) who has registered a Division III leading 86 goals on the season. She adds seven assists and 22 ground balls from her attack position. Kerr follows with 81 points on 50 goals and 31 assists totaling 43 ground balls to control the midfield for Wilkes.
As a team the high-powered Wilkes offense has outscored opponents 223-161 scoring over 13.94 goals per-game.
On the backline, Wilkes is led by senior
Jessica MacConchie (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) who has posted a team-high 78 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers.
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) will also be key in the Lady Colonels success having posted 66 points on 46 goals and 20 assists as the third wheel to Brownsey and Kerr's scoring punch. In net rookie goalie
Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) has been solid bosting a 10.27 goals against average with 126 saves in 12 wins.
Misericordia enters the game with just one blemish on its conference record, a lone loss at FDU-Florham in a game that decided the top seed in the tournament. On the year, Misericordia stands 9-7 overall.
The Cougars use a balance scoring attack to do most of its damage in 2016. Erin Baker tops the Misericordia offense with 44 points on 34 goals and ten assists. Olivia Garcia follows with 30 points on 21 goals and nine assists. Alexandra Elmes and Cara Spector have posted 29 and 22 points respectively combining for 43 goals and eight assists on the season.
In goal, Katie McLoughlin, one of the top goalie in the conference, has made 120 saves with a 7.98 goals against average in the nine wins.
The winner of the semifinal match will advance to Saturday's MAC Freedom championship game against the winner of top-seeded FDU-Florham and fourth seeded King's College at the highest remaining seed.
