Seven Singles, Four Doubles All Advance to Semifinals for Wilkes Men's Tennis at MAC Individual Tournament

EDWARDSVILLE -- The Wilkes University men's tennis team saw all seven singles and all four doubles flights advance to the semifinals at the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park Courts.

At No. 1 singles,
Courtney Murphy (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus) began his title defense with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Daniel Lynn of DeSales in the quarterfinals. He will face Stevenson's Raymond McDermott in the semifinals on Sunday.

Artyom Nabokin (Las Vegas, NV/Danvers) posted a 6-2, 7-5 win in the quarterfinals of No. 2 over Arcadia's Keith Rader. He will face Lycoming's Rob Smith in the semifinals looking to continue his run for a second straight crown.

At No. 3 singles,
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) went 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals over King's Terry Briggs to move into semifinal play. He will face Kevin Weller of FDU-Florham tomorrow in the semis.

Tawhid Choudhury (Holliswood, NY/The Ogburn School) advanced to semifinal play in his first action at the event at No. 4 after posting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Alex Kiblin of Stevenson. The rookie will face Lebanon Valley's Luke Senft in the semis tomorrow.

At No. 5,
Chris Maderitz (York, PA/Central York) bested Matt Betz of Hood in the quarterfinals and will play Doug Vaughan of Stevenson in the semifinals tomorrow.
Braddock Chow (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove) (No. 6) and
Ryan Simon (Mahwah, NJ/De Paul Diocesan) (No. 7) rounded out the Wilkes singles winners advancing to the semifinals after straight set wins.

In doubles play, Murphy and
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) moved into semifinal play at No. 1 after an 8-1 win. At No. 2 Nabokin and White went 8-2 to reach the semifinals while Choudhury and
Larry Scartz (Woodbridge, VA/Home School) scored an 8-5 win to move into seminal play at No. 3.

Gabriel Velez (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) and
Kai Czubryt-Ogino (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) rounded out the Colonel doubles winners advancing to the semifinals at No. 4 pairs.
