Gregrow was a three-time EIWA place winner at 190-pounds placing third twice and fifth once. During Wilkes's twenty-year tenure in Division I, Gregrow was the only 190-pounder to qualify for the NCAA National Championship Tournament in 1977 and 1978.

He was also a two-time champion at the Binghamton University Open tournament. In the finals of his second championship, he pinned his opponent in eight seconds, breaking the record previously held by fellow Hall of Famer Ron Fritts. In an individual match he set another Wilkes record by defeating an opponent 31-0, breaking the previous record set by fellow Hall of Famer Jim Weisenfluh.

The magazine National Mat News selected Gregrow as a mid-season NCAA D-I All-American Honorable Mention, ranking him in the top 16 wrestlers in his weight class in the country. In 2021, Gregrow was inducted into the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section IV Hall of Fame as a result of his accomplishments in football, wrestling, and track.
