Played four sports during career at Wilkes…played basketball and baseball for four seasons…spent one year on football and soccer teams…helped basketball team to 12-8 record during his senior season…during same year, the team averaged 81.7 points per game, a record that stood until the 1994-95 season…in baseball, he hit .320 his senior year and went 6-3 on the mound while striking out 97 batters and posting a 1.83 earned run average…tossed eight complete games in 1957…struck out 16 batters in a game twice in his career.
