Second most victories for a coach in NCAA wrestling history…put Wilkes on the national map for wrestling program…on February 12th, 1994, became just the second wrestling coach in history to top the 500 win mark, joining Dale Thomas of Oregon State as the only two members of the “500 Club”…retired in 1995 with record of 515-171-10…had undefeated seasons in 1956-57, 1958-59, 1959-60, 1960-61, and 1970-71…from 1955-66 through 1992-93, he guided the Colonels to 38 straight winning campaigns…during 42 year tenure, led Wilkes to 15 MAC titles in 19 seasons…guided the 1973-74 team to the NCAA Division III national championship…coached 10 individual national champions, 61 MAC champions, and 46 All-Americans during tenure…in 1976, moved Wilkes wrestling from Division III and MAC into Division I and the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA)…despite being the smallest Division I program in the country, Wilkes produced 87 EIWA place-winners, including eight champions, the 1976 Outstanding Wrestler Jim Weisenfluh and produced five Division I All-Americans.
